Other Reviews of this yarn: I couldn`t find any
The name is quite a mouthful but Nashua Handknits Cotton is pretty simply and very nice basic cotton yarn. It is mercerized, cabled and has a beautiful sheen. It comes in pretty bold colors and when knit looks very crisp, almost like linen fabric. It also shows the stitches very well even though I have not used it for any lace pattern. My Cherry cardi has not got a lot of wear yet (Hello, Spring. Are you coming?) but so far the fabric looks very durable. The texture or gauge did not change at all after blocking (I soaked it in cold water and pinned down) and neither was there any difference in texture after multiple ripping and reknitting. I even unravelled my already blocked swatch and used it to knit a sleeve (I was short of yarn) without any difference. Now to the bad part: This yarn splits. A lot. If I counted correctly, there are 12 plies in one strand and I felt every single one of them when I was knitting and I was using bamboo needles. I might use this yarn again as I really like the colors and sheen but I would not go for a stockinette project that does not require lots of attention as I might miss snagged strands but rather a detailed pattern that I have to follow nad therefore hopefully notice any loose plies and fix them. One particular design is on my mind...
